Sky trials UK's first ever live 3D TV broadcast
Having already shown off their plans to bring 3D TV to the UK using their existing HD set top boxes, Sky has just confirmed it has broadcast the UK's first ever live 3D TV event.
The event, an, ahem, Keane gig held at London's Abbey Road studios last night, was transmitted using a regular Sky+HD box and a 46in Hyundai 3D TV, which was set up in the room next door.
Sky reckons that this is a major breakthrough in bringing 3D TV to the masses, having shown off recorded content including Champions League football and Gladiators last December.
While Sky is remaining coy about when 3D TV will launch in the UK surely it's just a matter of when TV's biggest manufacturers can drive down the cost of the tellies themselves. Something tells us this may be some time.
