Sharp shows off flagship DH77 LCD TV

05 Mar 2009

Sharp Aquos DH77In these days of financial disaster, buying yourself a top notch TV might not be top of your to–do list. But if you are planning on hunkering down for the economic storm, Sharp's new Aquos DH77 should do the trick.

Their new top–of–the–range TV comes packing full 1080p HD, 3 HDMI ports and 100Hz, as well as plenty of environmentally friendly nous to ensure you feel less guilty about watching back–to–back classic football games on ESPN.

That includes direct access to the energy save mode from the remote, so you can decrease power consumption while watching. There's also optical picture control, letting you adjust the backlight automatically and saving you cash, apparently, in the process.

You'll also find 50,000:1 contrast ratio for crisp and clear pics, as well as 'Mona Lisa Smile' design. Nope, we don't understand that either. But Sharp should surely win a 'most bizarre design name' award for coming up with that one.

It's hitting shelves now, with 32, 37, 42 and 46in versions available. A 52in beast will be on its way soon, we've been promised.
