Philips outs 21:9 3D TV

04 Sep 2009

Philips Cinema 21:9 is set to get another dimension, as the company has announced at IFA that it too will be boarding the 3D TV train.During the Philips press conference yesterday, a Philips spokesperson claimed that "3D TV is the ultimate dream for consumers". Following Sony's 3D TV announcement and Panasonic's 3D TV dream, it seems that everyone is adding an extra dimension.Unlike Sony and Panansonic, Philips seems to be favouring a strereoscopic approach, rather than active shutter glasses – do we sense a format war approaching? As yet though, the Philips Cinema 21:9 is still in prototype stage and other devices such as 3D Blu-ray players are promised once there's enough "consumer demand".What do you think? Are you going to board the 3D train? Let us know below...

I wouldn't worry I can't help but think 3D will come and go again! Allot of people have only just bought new TV's, shelling out for anew set aint too likely for most people

Yeah quaidr12, i have a turned out eye which results in 70-30 vision so 3d to me is completely wasted, but as colonel says, it will come and go as it usually does!!!

Me too. I have a weak right eye, so 3D TV is out for me... and magic eye pictures too. Bummer.
