Toshiba insists HD downloads can bash Blu–Ray

He says that regular DVDs shifted 253 million units in November last year, compared to a paltry 1.4 million Blu–Rays. He reckons that with tons of Tosh upscaling tech, coupled with punters searching out HD downloads, Blu–Ray isn't anything to worry about. They say it will grow, but won't dominate.

We're not so sure. Blu–Ray might still be a nascent format, but the fact is upscaling just doesn't come near to the killer picture quality of Sony's discs.
