TomTom has hit its iPhone app with an update, bringing even more features from its fully-fledged sat navs to your Apple handset.

Perhaps feeling the squeeze from the likes of Nokia’s free Ovi Maps, and cheaper sat nav apps on the App Store, TomTom is bringing out the big guns and adding the HD Traffic feature more usually spied on its high-end GO range of sat navs, to the iPhone.

This will provide users with real-time traffic jam info and incident reports, so you know which routes to avoid when getting from A to B.

HD Traffic is also joined by integrated Local Search from Google, meaning you’ll be able to check for restaurants, hotel and bars nearby without having to get out of the app to search for it.

The update is currently sitting with Apple for review, but is expected to be approved and available on the App Store within the next couple of weeks.

Would you fork out the £49.99 for the TomTom iPhone app? Check out our video where we put it head-to-head with CoPilot in a pizza delivery challenge, and let us know what you think below.
