There's a Vaio phone in the works if these box photos are to be believed
It looks like a smartphone of some description is about to join the Sony-less Vaio line-up.
Sony sold off the struggling Vaio arm in early 2014 and the Japanese Industrial Partners (JIP) revived the brand with a couple of spiffy new laptops last month. But now it looks as though JIP has its sights set on the smartphone world.
Execs from the company have been showing off the box (above) but we're not just basing this speculation on a bit of cardboard - no siree - there's also word of some certification from the Japanese authorities about a device known as the VA-10J.
That device is said to come with a 13MP camera, 5-inch 720p display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and Android 5.0 (Lollipop), putting it smack dab in the midrange.
That the phone exists seems locked-on but what we're not sure about is whether it will ever launch outside its native Japan. But with specs like these, would you be devastated if not?
