T-Mobile is planning to sell unlocked iPhone 3GS handsets imported from Europe, according to a report by the Telegraph. Official carrier, O2, would be powerless to stop the move as its contract with Apple does not prevent other firms importing SIM-free iPhones.
However, the radical plan could lead to anger from Apple which tightly controls the sale of the iPhone 3GS. Recent reports have suggested that O2's exclusive hold on the iPhone could be coming to an end. Do T-Mobile's desperate measures suggest it's not in the running?
Would you sign up with T-Mobile to get your hands on an unlocked iPhone 3GS? If you're already on the network, would you switch to the iPhone 3GS if you had the chance?
