BBC makes iPlayer-only shows
The BBC is set to produce six short dramas for the iPlayer over the next two years – without broadcasting them on conventional TV first. Yup, that's right, Auntie Beeb is making baby steps towards producing original programming for streaming media, much like Netflix's House of Cards. Although Office Cat notes that where House of Cards starred Kevin Spacey and was directed by David Fincher, the Beeb's dramas are set to be produced by BBC Three. Which, bless it, isn't in quite the same league.

Apple goes green
Office Cat is a big fan of helping the environment – even his toilet trips are dedicated to fertilising the soil. So he was pleased to hear Apple data centres in America are now run entirely on renewable energy, thanks to its 100-acre solar farm. Worldwide Apple's still only 75 per cent renewable energy powered but Apple says it won't stop until it's at 100 per cent. Office Cat recommends outhouses as a good first step.

Sony Xperia Z launch
This week, Office Cat attended the launch of the Sony Xperia Z. Which is a little odd, as the phone's already available in shops, but oh well – it provided an opportunity to watch DJ Madeon control robot arms that poured paint all over some boxes. Quite what that had to do with the Xperia Z is beyond Office Cat, but it was certainly more interesting than watching paint dry.
