Too long has your smartphone stood shivering in the cold, with nothing to cover its dignity. Fortunately, Japan has come to the rescue, with Bandai creating this range of eight silicone "smart pants" for your phone, at 200 yen (£1.41) a pop. So, Office Cat wonders, which will it be? Sensible y-fronts or a leopard print thong?

Windows Phone users have been patiently waiting for the BBC iPlayer to launch on their platform, while gazing upon iPhone and Android owners' smartphones with envious eyes. Now Auntie Beeb has announced that the iPlayer will be coming to Windows Phone 7.5 and 8 via a live tile. No word on when it will drop other than "in the near future," though.

Nikon packs DSLR sensor into Coolpix A compact
Nikon has taken the wraps off its new Coolpix A compact camera – cramming in a 16.2MP DX-format CMOS sensor alongside the Expeed 2 image processing engine found in its D7000 DSLR. The Coolpix A also features an optical viewfinder, a NIKKOR fixed 28mm f/2.8 lens and Wi-Fi compatibility. Perfect for budding Cartier-Bressons, though a little pricey at £1000.
