Sony SmartBand 2 leaked on Play Store

Maybe it'll be second time lucky for Sony

Could this be a new marketing ploy by Sony, “accidentally” releasing information about new, as-yet-unannounced products at the Google Play Store in a bid to entice customers? Because that’s what has happened with its successor to the SmartBand.

Sony’s SmartBands are made to help users track daily activities in their life, and the SmartBand 2 will apparently come with a heart rate monitor, boosting its health tracker credentials. It works together with a new app – yes, the one leaked on to the Play Store (now removed again) which looks better than Sony’s current Lifelog app.

The SmartBand 2 is a pedometer, tracks your sleeping patterns and alerts you when you have incoming calls, messages and alarms. It also has a dedicated button for you to screenshot all the data on the current screen, which is for recording moments in your life you deem appropriately meaningful.

The release date and price for the SmartBand 2 has not been stated, but given that its companion app was (briefly) available in the Play Store, we don’t expect to be waiting long to find out more.
