Sony shows off 360-degree 3D display

3D TVs were one of the big gadget trends at IFA this year, and now Sony has taken the concept a bit leftfield with a 360-degree 3D display.  The

The concept cylinder is under development but is expected to be shown at the Japanese Museum of Emerging Science from Thursday.

It’s a slightly baffling development, but Sony thinks it could be used for digital signage, online shopping and video calls as well.

Apparently, the lifelike stereoscopic images can be seen from any angle without the need for glasses, though the 24-bit, 96x128 pixel images probably won’t offer HD glory.

Because it's a concept at this stage, there's no word on pricing or availability, but we’ll bring you more news from Sony’s wonderful world of 3D wizardry as soon as we get it.
