It seems Sony is taking its place in the eco arena seriously, and has unveiled two new products with a green edge from two sides of its business – phones and laptops.

The Sony VAIO W Series has added an eco model to its range, managing a 10% reduction in CO2 emissions thanks to 80% of its plastic parts being made from recycled materials.

It achieves reduced power consumption through the pairing of an Intel Atom processor with the VAIO's backlit LED display, and you'll get it in a PC carry bag made from recycled PET bottles, rather than a cardboard carton.

And in case you want to show off how green you are on the outside as well as the inside, the white-finish laptop is complimented by a green palm rest. Flashy.

Expect the same netbook specs of the rest of the range, so a 10-inch screen, 1GB memory and 250GB hard drive, and availability this month with prices to be confirmed.

Billed at a business mobile, the Aspen packs a full QWERTY keyboard alongside a touchscreen, multitasking, 3.2 megapixel camera, a-GPS, 3G, Wifi and will run Windows Mobile 6.5.3.

Not all for work though, it'll also pack PlayNow for downloading games and new music, and have quick access to the likes of Windows Live Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Skype from the homepage.

As for its green credentials, it'll come with a special power saving mode, recycled charger and box, and an e-manual.

You'll be able to get your green mitts on it from April-time in a choice of black or silver.
