Sony Ericsson smartbook in the works?

Rumours from Taiwan are suggesting Sony Ericsson is set to become the latest manufacturer to branch out in to the smartbook market.The whispers come f

The whispers come from an apparently "reliable" source who said little more than that Sony Ericsson was working on a new device to enter the market "soon".

Acer and Nokia are two names that Sony Ericsson would be going up against, but it's unknown yet if the SE device will come packing Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip, Nvidia's Tegra, the popular Intel Atom or something different altogether.

It remains to be seen if the rumoured smartbook will take on Sony's VAIO branding, just as it has lent brands such as Walkman and Cyber-shot to Sony Ericsson phones in the past.

Of course this is all just speculation for now so take it with a huge pinch of salt, and keep it locked to for the latest as it happens.
