Sony at E3 2015: Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy VII remake (yes, really!) and more

Hold on to your hats, fellow gamers. You're in for a treat

Give people what they ask for, and they will be happy.

It’s a simple mantra, and Sony has delivered in spades.

Without further ado, let’s see why the internet is full of happy gamers after Sony’s E3 2015 conference.

Final Fantasy VII remake

Yes. This is happening. Do not adjust your monitor, or your eyes. Sony is bringing one of the most treasured games ever to the PS4.

The Last Guardian

Considering it was announced at E3 2009, it’s no wonder that Sony’s opening announcement showing off gameplay from exclusive The Last Guardian was met with tumultuous applause. Now our own dogs just seems… inadequate. (Not really. We love you Baxter).

Shenmue III

Yu Suzuki’s sequel to his widely adored action RPG series was another big announcement for gamers, and it’ll be crowdfunded on Kickstarter, probably smashing funding records in the process, if the massive applause was anything to go by.

It won’t land on the PS4 until December 2017, and it can be yours for as little as $US30 for the digital version.

Uncharted 4: A Thieves End

Sony finished off in style with actual gameplay footage from Uncharted 4: A Thieves End. We got to see Mr Drake take to the wheel of a 4×4 in a daring chase through a city, and were impressed with the natural dialogue and how natural his movements were.

Still no release date though. Boo.

Destiny: The Taken King

Oh Oryx. Just because we’ve been killing your son, Crota, with all three of our Guardians three times a week since the Dark Below dropped, you suddenly want to get revenge? How petty.

With three new guardian sub-classes – Void Hunter, Solar Titan and Arc Warlock – to look forward, we say bring it on. Landing 15 September.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

Now this was interesting. It appears to be set in a post-apocalyptic world which used to be our own. Except we’re all gone, and are referred to as "the old ones".

Humanity has gone back to a sort-of stone age, albeit one with futuristic bows and arrows and big biomechanical monsters roaming the plains. We’ll be watching this space closely.

No Man’s Sky

We were blown away by the sheer scale in this demo, which saw us visit a never-before-seen planet in the huge universe of No Man’s Sky.

The ability to explore such a vast area and seamlessly enter atmosphere and terrain without a loading screen in sight is awesome, and we cannot wait for the final release.

But wait, there’s more

Sony also showed off gameplay from Cal of Duty: Black Ops III. Spoiler – there are lots of bullets and explosions.

Star Wars Battlefront also looked decent, with fluid expansive third-person shooter gameplay and a classic unmistakable Star Wars score in the background. The franchise is also coming to Disney Infinity, joining the existing Marvel and Pixar characters.

We also saw a quick glimpse of Street Fighter V and world premiere of World of Final Fantasy, which sees all our favourite FF characters return in a cute bobblehead world.

Stay tuned for more E3 news, straight from the front lines here in LA.
