TomTom iPhone Car Kit returns to Apple Store
The TomTom car kit's first wheel spin into the Apple Store ended in an abrupt "make a U-turn where possible" after one or two false claims that it came bundled with the TomTom iPhone app and was compatible with the iPod Touch. Now reinstated, it comes with the pretty plain disclaimer: "The TomTom app for iPhone is not included with this TomTom Car Kit. The Car Kit dock is compatible with all iPhone models, but the TomTom app only works with iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G."So now that embarrassment's been cleared up we can turn our attention to its many splendid actual features, including the best sucker-cup window clamp in the business (we say), its own boosted loud speaker, an enhanced mic for hands-free calls and integrated iPod charging. With all that in one handy bundle, Apple could have a stampede of TomTom users on its hands. And the cost? Er, £99 - plus the £60 paid for the app. Stampede cancelled.

Just assume the tomtom price is a weak attempt at irony, but where are messrs Griffin and Belkin when you need them? and where are the comparative reviews of the apps? I'd like to know if the sat signal amplifier actually works as most of the criticism of all the navigation programmes are related to poor signal but in the meantime, check out trapster, it's free!
