Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch to be revealed on 4 September

But will you be able to wrap this "wearable concept device" around your wrist?

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Gear smartwatch on 4 September, according to an executive from the company.

Confirming reports that the Galaxy Gear would launch alongside the Galaxy Note 3, Lee Young-hee, executive vice president of Samsung Mobile, has announced that the Galaxy Gear will be revealed at Samsung's pre-IFA briefing in Berlin.

The Galaxy Gear will be a "wearable concept device," Lee tells the Korea Times, although it won't sport the much-rumoured flexible display that Samsung's been working on. However, Lee notes that Samsung's stockpile of patents are "concepts for future products," suggesting that a flexible Gear may eventually put in an appearance.

We'll be heading over to IFA, where we'll bring you all the latest news from Samsung's launch event – plus hands- (and hopefully wrists-) on assessments of its latest kit.
