It seems bada, which means ocean in Korean, will come packing a replacement for the current TouchWiz UI we’ve seen on the likes of the Samsung Jet, and will offer up more opportunities for developers to get involved in developing apps for the platform.

That said, it doesn’t appear that Samsung is considering making a big step in to the smartphone market – but will instead be offering a similar experience on more affordable non-smartphones, complete with the opening of the bada application store.

Information is pretty thin on the ground at the moment, but we do know that Samsung is hoping to launch the first bada-powered phone and the app store in the first half of 2010, followed by a number of other models and a larger app store roll out in the second half of the year.

A big launch has been scheduled in for next month when we’d expect to get more details then, but if you’re an interested developer or want to find out more, the bada website has launched with similarly vague details.

As always, we’ll keep you updated – give us your thoughts on the forthcoming OS below.
