Judging from a set of leaked images posted on Chinese site Digi-wo, Sony isn’t being very creative when it comes to the design for its upcoming Xperia Z3 smartphone.
The source has put up a few snaps that is claims show the Z3, and if they're the genuine article the phone's shaping up to look very similar to its predecessor the Xperia Z2. The upcoming flagship will apparently sport the same style as the current model, bar a few minor changes.
Now, it’s either that Sony’s so proud of the Z2’s design that it feels only a few tweaks are required for the Z3 or it’s putting an emphasis on the fact that looks don’t matter.
Attention to details
The alleged snaps picture the Xperia Z3 from all angles, showing that the smartphone could possibly have curved sides instead of the flat design seen on the Z2. If it’s true, this could be a game changer for those of you who like the specs of the Z2 but have been complaining of its uncomfortable hold.
The other aesthetic alteration appears to be the relocation of the speaker grille, which has been shifted slightly to the left end of the handset.
But the unit seems to be missing a secondary speaker – suggesting that it may not have stereo speakers like the Z2. Then again, the device could still be in the works and the feature could be added in the final design.
Otherwise, the Xperia Z3’s appearance is almost identical to the Z2. But the rumour should be taken with a pinch of salt, since another set of leaked pictures by Digi-wo show the Sony Xperia Z3 with a distinctive appearance.
For now, the Xperia Z3’s a mystery, and we’re hoping Sony surprises us when it actually launches the smartphone.
