Getting a song include on Rock Band can be a fast track to serious cash. Now MTV are set to allow musicians to offer their own songs for sale in the game via its online store Rock Band Network.
Rock Band Network is still in closed beta but is set to launch in August with in-games sales coming later in the year. Artists, labels and unsigned acts will be able to upload their songs to the site. They'll then be approved just like apps in the iTunes App Store.
MTV has essentially taken on the Apple's iTunes App Store model, allowing musicians to choose the price for their songs. They'll take 30% of the price from tracks sold via the Rock Band Store and Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
Are you a musician? Will you add your songs to the Rockband Network? Or are you a grinchy type who thinks that all that button bashing is ruining real music? Let us know in the comments and watch our Rock Band 2 test for inspiration.
