Mark the day. Sony has just dispatched its millionth PS3 in the UK – a full five-and-a-half weeks before the first anniversary of the console's debut.
Despite initial sales hiccups the next-gen gamer has hit the million mark even faster than the PS2, which took more than three weeks longer to reach the symbolic target.
But the real back-slapping will be down to the fact that the PS3 has done it faster than the Xbox 360. Microsoft's console took 60 weeks before someone shelled out for unit number one million way back in January 2007.
However, the PS3 still lags behind in total sales to date, with around 18m Xbox having been shipped worldwide. The next-gen console battle continues.
