Tesco bringing films and TV to download store

11 Sep 2008

TescoTesco’s very own download store has already given the proverbial two–fingered salute to DRM with the launch of MP3 downloads. And now reports are emerging of plans to bring films and TV shows to the budget download store.

The supermarket giant is in talks with Fremantle Media, BBC Worldwide and ITV to bring content onto the service, with plans to launch shows online before Christmas.

Everything else is being kept on the lowdown for the minute, but you can bet that there’ll pumping as much cash as possible in, with the hope of denting iTunes dominant position. With Apple’s offering limited when it comes to UK shows, could Tesco really have the edge?

What do you think? Can Tesco see off Apple? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
