Tech tickler – is the Archos 5g better than the iPod Touch?
When Archos ripped the covers off their 5g 'internet media tablet' earlier this week, everyone was pleasantly surprised at how good it looked and the stack of features crammed inside that 12,5mm bod'.
The question on everyone's lips, though, is whether the 5g, with its 3G connectivity and HD video capabilities, is better than the mighty iPod Touch? Apple's finest is due for a refresh, with one planned for September.

I think that if the software in the Archos is really smooth and good looking then I think it has a chance of beating the iPod. Just because you can store more variety of content than the touch.

The touch is more pocketable and I prefer web browsing on the touch with multi touch. The 5g does have more memory but with the iPods due a revamp I wouldn't even think about buying a 5g

Being a consumer waiting to buy the Archos 605 or Itouch I am now very pleased with the upgrades due in Sept and plan on shedding my cash for the Archos but I still have a nagging doubt over Archos lack of customer service. If apple have some Itouch news in next few weeks they may still get my dosh as Apple are proven to provide customer service if and when required.

The Hd compatibility sounds far better on the archos than the ipod touch but the touch has many more cool features like turning sideways and scrolling through the music by the album artwork! The internet is really good on ipod touch when you have a wifi!
