Spotify and 7digital team up for downloadable tracks

Users of music streaming service Spotify can now buy and download the tunes they listen to, thanks to a new partnership with MP3 store 7digital.com.

While browsing Spotify, users can simply right-click on streaming tracks and select "Buy From 7digital.com" to, er, buy from 7digital.com. The songs are typically offered as 320kbps MP3s, but a selection is also available in the lossless FLAC format beloved of golden-eared audiophiles.

7digital.com says that, in future, users will be able to download entire playlists rather than just single tracks and albums.
