Sony X series Walkman

Sony's X series Walkman has really got us het up here at Stuff Towers. And now the iPod touch–baiting PMP has finally found itself with an official price and its final specs detailed in full.

Sony's official site has the 32GB model listed at £279, four quid cheaper than the Amazon price we first saw last month. That's a tenner more than the iPod touch, but with a few features that will sway Apple haters.

YouTube streaming on the X series has been confirmed, as well as a massive 33 hours of tunes and 9 hours of video. That truly does bash Apple's touchscreen marvel which offers up 6 hours of vids.

Otherwise, the specs remain the same, with a 3in OLED screen and in–built noise–cancelling.

The Sony X series Walkman is due on 10 May, when we'll be getting some more hands–on time. In the meantime, cast your eye over our exclusive hands–on clip filmed at Sony HQ in Japan last year.

£279 or £179 ? As its "tenner more than the iPod touch"

Tenner more than the 32GB iPod touch, although Apple's price of that iPod touch is £283, £4 more than Sony's price for this.

It's up to retailers like Amazon to discount it...

The App Store for the iPod Touch has turned it into so much more than a PMP - music, videos, email, web, games, productivity etc etc

The Sony can't compete on this basis, but as purely a PMP is looks pretty good.
