New iPod Touch to sport 2MP camera

19 May 2010

Tinhte, the Vietnamese tech site that has already leaked shots of the iPhone 4 and new plastic MacBook (the day before it went official), has just put up a load of shots purportedly showing the next edition of the iPod Touch. And it’s got a camera!

The photos, which look pretty dead-on, show a slim aluminium unibody iPod Touch with 64GB of storage and a small camera. Apparently the sensor model shown on the images boasts 2MP. Aside from that, the Touch appears to be fairly similar to the current model: sleep button on top, volume control at the side, headphone jack at the bottom.

We’ll bring you more on the new iPod Touch as we get it.

what is the bloody point Apple in these days of 5MP and above cameras in phones etc.  Yet again Apple goes back to 2003!

why such a pathetic camera? should be at least 5MP the new iPod Touch's form should follow that of the leaked iPhone 4 form. would look a lot nicer

Would be nice to have more than 2mp but to be honest most people are only going to mess around taking casual snaps and more likely use it for video anyway.

I am certain this is a fake as one of the photos shows that it is running OS 3.1. Surely the newest models would be on the new 4.0?

I dunno what all the fuss is about. A 2m camera on a mp3 player is all it needs. Its only designed for casual snaps... Not photography. Anyone wanting to take a decent picture would use a camera... not a phone or an iPod

4th Gen iPod Touch with 2MP sounds brillant. Just remind Apple to sneak in a VGA video camera and a FM tuner in there. BTW: Stop complaining about the damn camera not being 5 MP and the Apple OS not having bloody flash. Why should people give a f*** about silly little features like that when Apple offers 100,000 games, thousands of additional features through apps, 64GB of storage, plently of music and video to download and put of all of your apple products and a decent mobile web browser with a you tube app. (And multitasking for 3rd gen iPod Touchs in the Summer) The point is with all these features, why are lots of people still complaining? Tell me when you can find a better mp4 player then you might have a fair argument to complain about the camera and lack of flash support.

Its pretty much a monopoly. Apple has no competition when it comes to the iPod Touch or any iPod for that matter. They can pretty much change nothing, raise the price, and have you buy it; or, they can release a product, wait for you to buy it, then release an even better one, hoping that you buy the latest and greatest. I hope we can look forward to this in the near future though.
