Amazon CEO invents the hoverbook

12 Aug 2011

This is the hoverbook, as perhaps envisaged by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in a recent patent application. We're not making it up – the online shopping magnate’s name appears on a filing for “a method for protecting a portable device that includes an airbag deploying.”

It might just be because it’s Friday afternoon, but to us that’s got Kindle airbag action written all over it (we are, of course, reading between the lines somewhat). Could this be the rumoured Kindle Air (which we still think more likely to be a socially-connected ebook reader?  Or were we right first time and it’s actually a hoverbook? Yes, hoverbook. You heard it here first. And probably last.

Hmmm... a book that hovers towards you could be useful. At least you won't lose it and that Airbag should put an end to broken screens.
