ZTE launches 7in ZTE Light Tab II in the UK
Chinese mobile manufacturer ZTE is synonymous with pocket-friendly, no-frills smartphones and slates – like the recently announced Windows Phone 7 Tania. Now, in a bid to keep its budget portfolio flourishing, ZTE has officially announced that its first own-brand Android tablet – the Light Tab II – will be available in the UK.
Flying the flag for highly affordable Android tabs, the Light Tab II comes with a £235 price tag that will bag you Android 2.3, a 1.4GHz single-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB in-built memory (with an SD card slot for expansion) and a flash-free dual camera set up, which houses a 0.3MP snapper round the front and a 3.2MP shooter at the back.
At 12.9mm thick, it's slightly thicker than the iPad 2, but its 400g weight coupled with its 7in frame makes the Light Tab II incredibly portable and pocket-friendly. Its features are topped off nicely with built-in FM radio and 5.5 hours of video playback on a full charge.
So the Light Tab II isn't exactly going to have the Asus Transformer Prime quaking in its boots and certainly won't knock your socks off, but it could be an affordable option for the casual tablet user hoping to make their first foray into tablet territory.
