The Venzero One is a media player with a pop-tastic twist: it saves you the bother of listening to the inane rantings of radio DJs and tells you what song you just heard without a single self-important remark.
The One, see, is the first portable media player to use MusicMarker, a free service that automatically recognises song titles, artists, the album a song’s off, and shows you where to go and buy it – all from a tiny snippet. It’s a bit like a version of Shazam for the radio.
Basically, if you hear a song you want to know more about on FM, you press the MusicMarker button to record a few seconds, and when you hook it up to your computer later it will, using Venzero’s MediaManager, get the song info for your perusal.
It’ll then give you the option to download the song form online stores to stick on your player for prosperity.
The MediaManager software is pretty handy. In addition to indulging radio pop-trivia, it makes reading blogs, accessing podcasts, and playing video a cinch.
Plus, thanks to the ‘Shareport’ - a second USB port that’ll exchange data with other USB gadgets - you’ll be able to move the cherished song around all your players ‘til you’re sick to the death of it.
The 8GB matte-black One comes with a high-res (320 x 240 pixels) 2in colour display and supports an array of music and image formats, videos, texts, RSS news reports and blog entries. It’ll be available from mid-June for £190.
