Vodafone iPhone also on the way – let the price war commence

29 Sep 2009

A Vodafone iPhone will soon be hitting shelves in the UK following top-secret talks to ensure that it would be the latest mobile operator to carry the handset.Following yesterday's announcement that Orange would follow O2 to stock the iPhone, Vodafone's shock move to secure the iPhone 3G and 3G S means that we could see a rather tasty Christmas price war on our hands. The iPhone has traditionally been cheaper in countries with more than one carrier and tech commentators are also predicting a drop in monthly tariff charges. So who will follow suit? It's believed that Virgin Mobile are also in the running, so our advice is to hold your water until you can get yourself a good deal on a cheap iPhone. (via The Telegraph)

If you go to mainland europe where competition already exists then you'll find that the phone is the same price everywhere and is not ecven cheaper than the UK

Excellent news, however just noticed on the Vodafone forum that they will not be allowed to sell until after Christmas.

Can't wait for this, it will be great so long as vodafone don't mess with the iphone, on the outside and inside.
