Toshiba TG01 - hands on video
Toshiba is now officially at the smartphone shindig and it’s come decked out in Windows Mobile not Google Android as we’d fervently hoped.
But for the WinMo doubters, the OS has been skinned by a 3D spinning UI and performance perked up no end by the powerful Snapdragon processor.
Media-wise it works a treat both with WMP and the more-to-our-taste Coreplayer, which will render your DivX movies a treat on the 4.1inch screen.
At an outstandingly thin 9.9mm, it makes the iPhone feel porky and the T-Mobile G1 gross. We got our hands on an early prototype so head over to our watch and listen pages to make up your own mind.

Sorry, but WM is too doggy for this to be anything but disappointing. I am an iPhone user that recently revived an old XDA 2 for business purposes and could not believe how responsive and functional the old PocketPC 2003 system was (with a skeleton crew of apps). I know PPC2003 doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but as far as a core commercial device, this operating system is going BACKWARDS, no matter how you tart it up.
Grrrrr.
