T–Mobile G1 coming 30 October

16 Oct 2008

T–Mobile has officially confirmed that their Google Android–toting G1 will hot their stores on 30 October. That's just a fortnight away and with preorders already stacking up, it looks as if the network is going to have a pre–Christmas winner on its hands. As for pricing, there'll be two plans to start with. There's a Combi 35 offer, giving you 800 minutes and unlimited texts and a Flext 40 tariff with 1,250 minutes or 2,500 texts, you can choose which way round. Both deals will also get you unlimited web browsing, something you'll need to harness the might of Google's killer open source OS. Best of all though, you won't need to front up for the phone, once again taking it beyond the iPhone 3G.Just to remind you, the G1 comes with the new Android OS, HSDPA, Wi–Fi, a 3MP snapper and a full touchscreen. Sadly though, there's no stereo Bluetooth or a 3.5mm jack. For more on the G1 check out our hands–on video and feature on the rivals to the Google phone.Essentials T–Mobile G1 Price: £Free on contract On sale: 30 October Contact: T–Mobile

Prices will be £40/month for 18 month tie in, which I feel is very expensive.  Though we are looking forward to the potetial of the android software.  If you find any good android downloads please post them on http://www.googlephone.me I am logging all the best free downloads for people.

Great article.. and good phone...accept the last sentance, which completely drops it in the doo doo. Who would want a top phone like this but have no bluetooth stereo or the option to use your own decent earphones. Why do companies do this give you ALMOST everything you need in todays standard of multimedia communication devices...  Its a shame but I and probably many like me will not even shortlist this because of these omissions. Looks quite snazzy though.

If that had a headphone jack I would of gone for it. I'm with O2 and there online contract range is very poor. Well done T Mobile for helping a new OS come to the mix!
