Spotify iPhone app to arrive within the month

27 Jul 2009

Good news: the official iPhone Spotify app has been submitted to the iTunes App Store and could be with us in weeks or even days. Bad news: it'll be for premium subscribers only. The Android Spotify app popped up a while back but this is the first appearance of the iPhone app. Take a look at it in action on the blogs. The Spotify iPhone app lets you listen to and edit your playlists over the air and search for new tracks. But the best feature is the offline mode. This all very well and good but unless you're a Spotify Premium subscriber, paying £9.99 a month, you won't be able to use the app. There's also the big question of whether Apple will allow the obvious iTunes competitor to take up residence on its beloved iPhone.Would Spotify on the go persuade you to pay the monthly subscription? And do you think Apple will play nice or block Spotify's mobile streaming dreams?

WHAT!!!!! Only for Premium users! FORGET IT! Iphone is already expensive as it goes with high tariffs and they expect us to pay £9.99 to get spotify each month! No,I dont think alot of people will become members! All spotify needs to do is put an app out for EVERYONE!

Could Spotify not make a cheaper user which limits you to say 250 songs a month that people can use on the iPhone and iPod Touch. They still make money and we/re not all out of pocket. Also Apple would like the limiter because then they still can sell songs. And we're all happy :) Simples!

Let's see if apple actually approve it, can't really see it myself.
