Sony Ericsson rolls out software fix for Satio, Aino and Yari

07 Dec 2009

Sony Ericsson handsetsSony Ericsson has pushed out a software update for its Satio and Aino handsets, after problems saw both handsets hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons two weeks ago.

The Satio was pulled from sale at Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U after an unusually high number were returned, and touchscreen problems on the Aino led to complaints from users as well.

While Sony Ericsson won't say exactly what went wrong on the handsets, the software fixes are now available to download for those persistent users that held on to their handsets.

The update will apparently not only fix the issues to make the handset more stable, but also make it perform better too, with Aino owners getting better Wifi and GPS capabilities, and a longer battery life thanks to improved efficiency.

Interestingly there's also an update for Yari on the way, the handset at the lower end of the trio, which before now we hadn't heard there were any issues with.

Still, it's always better to be safe than sorry, and perhaps Sony Ericsson spotted a weakness in the software that had a danger of affecting the Yari at some point as well.

Either way, here's hoping this is the end of Sony Ericsson's problems with these handsets and we'll see the Satio back on the shelves at Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U shortly.

Have you installed the update? Let us know below what you think to it.

I have never updated the Software on my Sony Ericsson, I have never seen it fit to.

Still the same rubbish user interface, after the software update (but presumably now a more 'stable' rubbish user interface).

...And it doesn't appear to stop the battery cover falling off everytime the earphone adapter is inserted & removed (if only it was as stubborn as the screen, as you try to scroll your way through your files !)
