Samsung unveils slimline I7110

With everyone going crazy for phones with needlessly large megapixel counts and all things Google Android, it's pleasing to see Samsung is keeping it real with their latest effort, the I7110.

Based on Symbian S60, a year ago, it would have been turning heads and causing feature fanatics to go berserk over its tasty spec sheet. As it is, this is very much part of the chasing pack, but it sounds cracking nonetheless.

There's HSDPA and EDGE for web browsing, support for MP3, AAC and WMA and an external memory of up to 16GB, meaning you can file away about 4,000 tunes without crippling the phone.

The camera is a more than respectable 5MP, with 30fps video shooting and DivX playback, all of which you can take a peep at on the 2.6in QVGA screen. Which might sound a bit weedy, but when you see that the phone only measures 12.9mm, you're looking at a rather slimline piece of kit that makes Nokia's chunky N–series look even more portly.

Other features include GPS, an FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 and games including FIFA 2008. There's no news on price, but expect to get your hands on one later this year.
