Rock Band hits the App Store
Air guitarists can now unleash their inner Satan at will, thanks to the launch of Rock Band for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The £6 app is a port of EA's popular console title, though without any need for plastic guitar accessories or the finger-grip controls that shipped with the DS version of the game. Instead, players tap out notes on the touchscreen.
Up to four players can rock out together, thanks to a Bluetooth-enabled coop mode, and would-be rockers can find fellow shredders via Facebook Connect.
The app comes with 20 tracks, including the Beastie Boys' Sabotage, Debaser by the Pixies and Blondie's Hanging on the Telephone. More tracks can be downloaded via the App Store.
As with the full version of the game, players can choose to play drums, bass or guitar. Shy vocalists will be pleased that vocal parts in the game are also played via the touchscreen, so there's no need to scare the fellow passengers.
Sadly, there's no option to play flute on Jethro Tull's Hymn 43.
