RIM outs BlackBerry App World details
We've known for some time that RIM was plotting its very own app store for its raft highly addictive email devices. And now the Canadians have come clean, officially unveiling BlackBerry App World. The new service will go up against Apple's App Store. Nokia's Ovi and Android Market. You'll be able to grab apps on any of the newer BlackBerrys, including the full touchscreen Storm. The store hasn't launched yet, but you can register your interest at the official site or sign up to work on your own efforts if you fancy yourself as a developing whizz. To buy apps, you'll need a PayPal account. Paid for apps will kick off at £2.59, significantly higher than Apple's online shop.Of course, there will be freebies, doubtless including the Facebook and Twitter apps that are already up for grabs. For more BlackBerry goodies, check out our in–depth review of the BlackBerry Storm now.Essentials BlackBerry App World Price: £From free On sale: TBA Contact: RIM

About time as well! Hopefully be a few more apps than available at the moment. I have lost count of the amount of IM programmes.

I got fed up of waiting for apps to appear on the 'Application Centre' so I got shot of it and bought the G1, which I love. Sorry RIM but you took too long!!!
