Pics of new iPhone leak out
There's certainly been no shortage of new iPhone gossip to keep us occupied in the past few weeks. But it looks as if the first snaps of the new model have surfaced online, showing a slightly revamped version of the best–selling mobile.This shot of the matte black iPhone 3G comes from MacRumors, who point out that iPodObserver, who picked up the pics from China, were the first chaps to publish early images of the current glossy black model.Word is it'll have a textured back for better grip, with the new paint job bringing an end to the hellish fingerprints which blight the blower the minute you lift it from its box.Obviously Apple is saying absolutely nothing about this. But surely this 16GB version is a good idea of what we can expect when Schiller or Jobs offers up a newbie some time in June or July?What do you think? A sign of the future or a complete fake? This is a pic of the back of an iphone. Nothing more. What's "new" about this? Come back when you have some solid "FACTS" not just dodgy pics, rumours and speculations. Call yourselves journalists? I call you inspector Google. If Apple are saying "nothing" then that's probably what's happening at the moment-NOTHING. Lets face it if there is one coming out soon we won't hear anything half decent until about May at the earliest. Now try leaving that comfy office of yours and do some proper investigating.

angelus79 - sort it out. 1. what's "new" is the fact that the iPhone may potentially have a new back. 2. just because Apple are saying "nothing" doesn't mean "nothing" is happening. they've already admitted to working on a new iPhone, so "something" obviously IS happening. 3. Stop using "quotation marks" it's annoying and cretinous. 4. Inspector Google is a rubbish name to call someone - work on better comebacks. Must try harder. 5. Why do you think people can't carry out research/investigative journalism in an office? 6. Get a life; they're reporting on speculation of possibly one of the biggest and most widely acclaimed gadgets of our lifetime...it's they're job.

Angelus79 Thanks for your comments. The fact is, it'd be remiss of me to not to report this here. I know our readers, even the ones who hate Apple, want to know about a new iPhone. Yes, it comes from another source, but as with all online work these days, we credit where it's due. When it comes to Apple news, we all know that Cupertino never furnishes anyone with facts prior to a release, hence the growth in rumours sites and blogs. While we obviously spend a lot of time in the office, as do nearly all journalists these days sadly. We at Stuff endeavour to be out and about as often as possible. Hence all the hands–on videos, pictures and reports we get before many of our competitors. I've been out all morning looking at some new Microsoft stuff that you'll see right here next week. We love what we do, but sometimes we have to hit Stuff Towers too! Thanks Joe

Hey angelus. Erm, this is news you idiot. A) The rumored new iPhone might just be this one! It from the same source as the 3G leaks. B) You honestly think when a massive corp say they are not working on something they really mean it!!? Get out of your comfy world where the population believe everything they are told! Oh and when you put "nothing" in quote marks like that, what your actually saying is Apple lying about doing nothing. Learn how to write proper before launching yourself into some drivel comment I'll call you "inspector gadget" as your as gullible as he was and about the same IQ

loves_to_spooge: Aww did I hurt the little Stuff lovers feelings? Methinks you may have more invested in this report than you're letting on. A Stuff journo in the guise of a blogger perhaps? Anyway my point was thus; this is a pic of the back of an iphone that is all. I see no difference from this pic to the current iphone-do you even have one? Lets just say I work closely with this product and we have heard nothing. That's right NOTHING. Sure everyone knows Apple are working on a new phone that's a given, but truth be told Apple have water tight contracts to shut people up. Nothing will get out about this for fear of lawsuits etc. That is why I think it is best Stuff stick to the facts instead of speculation and rumour. It's just a pointless waste of copy and effort. Sorry if you guy's took this personally but hey you're supposed to be think skinned Hacks right? Personally I think most of you do a good job hence the reason I read this damn website every week, but I do feel there is a lot of- what some commentators like to call "churnalism" -oops another quote there sorry; loves_to_spooge. Too many pointless articles to count at times and when you work closely with a particular product this nonsense becomes tiresome very quickly. Anyway- yes I've had a bad morning and yes I may have been a tad harsh but suck it up and lets hear more interviews with the guys that are really in the know. *On a side note I used to be in Journalism but being stuck in an office and being subject to the corporate media finally took its toll. So I know how you all feel. Keep up with the decent stories though.

What is with all the hate can we not just all come together in appreciation of the genius that is the iPhone. Everyone needs to chill a wee bit. Also as a side note if you are in Scotland and read this then come check out the newly styled O2 store in Buchanan St in Glasgow for all your hands on fun with the latest phones. It so new and shiny

Hi Angelus79 Again, I appreciate your comments, but refute strongly the suggestion that we would plant a Stuff journalist as a blogger to comment on this story. Wee are open and happy to reply to any questions or complaints that arise on this site. I also strongly refute the accusations of churnalism. While, yes, we do report stories that other sites do, we never over report throughout the day, cherry picking only the hottest, best news stories that are about, giving them a completely Stuff angle and using both the news feed and blog channels. We include features and interviews which make this site a far more fun place to be than many other gadget sites across the planet. We are obliged to our readers to run iPhone news stories. It can get tiring for a few, but the fact is, it's what most gadget lovers want. I really appreciate your input, as I do with every reader. Now I really need to get out of the office, it's way past time I was down the pub! Cheers Joe

oh crap, I really hope they will get some decent upgrade packages for current iPhone 3G users. I don't want to take out an additional contract for the new jesus phone. I agree with PS3--man-u Everyone stop sp@zzing

angelus, your banging on about facts all the time as if the whole world runs off facts. At the end of the day this site is well run for the fact that is magazine is its main output. I've know websites for some mags being a static hope page and a forum tagged onto it. And btw, whats the craic with comments being in administration if comments like the one from jcm6084 get approved??
