PAYG iPhone 3G good–to–go at last
When Steve Jobs finally gave the iPhone a dose of 3G back in the summer, O2 and Apple both made sure to keep things pretty vague about the release date of a pay as you go version.Well, at last, that day is here. Apple has just confirmed that you can now get the iPhone 3G minus the contract from O2. The 8GB edition will cost £342.50, with the 16GB version coming in at a wallet–wilting £391.45.You won't just be able to shove in any old SIM though. You'll need to use O2's Pay and Go service. That said, by signing up you get a year's unlimited Wi–Fi and 3G internet access. While there is talk of a proper SIM–free model showing up here in the UK, if you want an iPhone on your preferred network, buying a PAYG version and jailbreaking it is your only option right now.Will you be buying one? Wait, did I read that correctly...PAYG customers DONT get free unlimited internet/3g access.? how *** is that!

It's a premium device, so you pay a premium price. How much would an X1, Omnia, G1, Touch HD or N96 cost if they were on PAYG? Exactly - an arm and a leg. Joe's a bit to quick, as usual to dish any dirt upon Apple, LOL. A quick look at the O2 website, would tell you that 12 months unlimited Wi-Fi and data *is* included with each PAYG tariff.

Eh? I bought an iPhone 3G on PAYG last month from my 02 and it was £399 (I assume the price has came down due to the VAT changes), and Im sure its the 3G version. Or isnt it?

I dont care what the cost is.. Until Apple start including MMS, Stereo Bluetooth and preferablly Video calling and better camera's with decent flash.. I aint getting one.. Even if they were free on contract.

This is weird - I bought a PAYG iPhone on 16 Sept when it was launched - are they launching it again, or is this an old Press Release? BTW iPhone on PAYG is an excellent option - I get all the Cloud and BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots included and 300 free texts per month of it top up £10 - sweet :) The O2 deal is actually much better than almost anywhere else in the world - all you can eat data, nearly 10,000 Wi-Fi Hotspots, and freebees when you top up. I am loving my iPhone - simply the best thing ever.

Yeh im not sure what is going on here as i work for 02 and i have been selling they PAYG Iphone 3g for over a month now. I thinik Stuff may be a bit behind on this one. It is correct you do get 12 months of unlimited Web and Wifi it then a further £10 pounds a month after that. As for it being a rip off i have to disagree as you are getting an 8GB Ipod touch and £120 pounds worth of web and Wifi usage included in the price. Just my thoughts anyway.

How is it a rip off? What other top of the line, latest smartphone is on PAYG anyway? People should be lucky that it's on PAYG to begin with.
