Is OS 3.0 causing iPhone 3GS WiFi woes?
The iPhone OS 3.0 is causing WiFi connectivity problems for a large number of iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS owners. The Unofficial Apple Weblog has spotted fourteen threads adding up to over six hundred messages on Apple's online support forums. After updating to iPhone OS 3.0, WiFi on the phone either decreases or vanishes entirely. Signal strength bars can still be displayed but internet connectivity is nowhere to be found. A range of solutions to the problem have been suggested from the basic (changing settings) to the mildly insane (putting the phone in the freezer). The next software update, iPhone OS 3.1, has already been released developers. It may include a bugfix to sort out the issue but that's not guaranteed. So far, the features uncovered in the OS 3.1 update include tweaks to iPhone 3GS video editing, voice control over Bluetooth and new APIs to enable third party apps to access videos and edit them. Have you experienced issues with your WiFi connectivity since updating to iPhone OS 3.0? Let us know in the comments or hop over the forums to suggest your solutions. (via TUAW)

I am having no problems with the Wi-Fi, however when the phone is first switched on it takes it about 5 minutes to find 02! I don't know if this is an 02 issue or iPhone issue? Also my alarm doesn't seem to go off if the phone has been turned off! And with the battery life being so poor if it is left on overnight it loses around 25% of its battery just in standby! Anyone else having this problem?

7 out of 10 people that have an iphone have issues with screens blanking out, crashing etc, i have a htc diamond 2 and it hasnt even crashed once. having read all the reviews i thought i would be the one having all the problems and not iphone owners. i would love a decent app store though for winmo or htc apps or something other than scouring the net!

I am wondering where hooman78 gets his stats from? 7 out of 10? I am limited to the experience of me and people I know. Of the 12 of us who have iPhones, none have the Wi-Fi problem, or indeed have had screens blanking or crashes.

I've had wifi problems on my touch since the update. It keeps dropping and reconnecting, even if I sit next to my router

Since I installed 3.0 my wifi shows as connected, but doesn't work. I gave up and switched it off in the end as Safari just hung and all my Internet related apps kept resetting to the home screen

7 out of 10 is a rough figure, one of the guys in my office was so fed up with his iphone he has swapped it for a sony ericsson C905 someone else has in the office, crazy thing to do but he has, a few others have said they wouldnt be getting an apple phone again cos of the problems they have had. personally i think the iphone is a lovely product but surpised at the reaction people have when they buy one, it seems to be like marmite.

I actually live in Dallas, Texas and neither myself or my girlfriend have had any problems what so ever with our new 3Gs, it just works!

I've noticed wifi on my 1st generation iPod touch since updating to 3.0 has been much weaker, drops out much more easily than before the update, and takes longer to connect initially, even on a wifi connection it already knows.
