25 Sep 2008

G1The T Mobile G1 has created plenty of debate here at Stuff Towers. And now we can bring you our full teardown of the new Android phone in our full hands–on video review.

The G1 has got undoubtedly one of the best touchscreens going and despite its rather rudimentary looks, definitely has the power to take on some of the world’s best smartphones.

Check out the video to see it compared to the iPhone, see Android Market in action and why the web browser can beat the might of Apple’s Safari.

Once you’re done, check out our first impressions of the T Mobile G1 and our feature detailing all the rivals it’ll have to beat to become top dog in the smartie world.

So no A2DP, no desk top sync, no testing of apps that could steal your data and be viral, and in the video the browser did not render properly when switching from portrait to landscape. Alo does not match the 800x480 or even the 640x480 res of other SE and HTC Smartphones.  SO why do you claim this is so good?  Does it have Exchange Push email?

    Hi Jah

Thanks for your comments. I agree that G1 is lacking in some features that really should be there. The T Mobile guy I met told me they were working on fixing these. However, I think it's key to remember what the real story is here - Android.

Personally, I think this is the best mobile OS out there. It's easy to use, very intuitive and makes Symbian and WinMo look very clunky by comparison. So that's why I think the G1's good. There will be better Android phones, and the G1 has been rushed somewhat. Obviously T Mobile and Google want to capitalise on the pre–Christmas market. Fair enough. Next year's efforts will be even better I think.

    Cheers
