First Google Android phone hits UK shelves today
We've come a long way since the first rumblings of a Google phone. And now, just a year after Google gave the public nod to Android, the first phone rocking the open source platform, the T-Mobile G1, hits UK shelves today. The touchscreen phone has been given short shrift by some mobile maniacs, but this is all about the OS gadget lovers.
The phone is yours to grab now, with two contracts set at £35 and £40 a month. Not cheap, but T-Mobile is chucking the handset in for nothing, so at least there's good times ahead for those who can't wait to get onto Android Market and nab one of those of 50 free apps.
We're heading down to the T-Mobile store on Oxford Street for the 7am opening. Will it be as much of a faff as the iPhone 3G shebang back in July? Will more than ten people show up for some Android love? Keep it locked to Stuff.tv for a blog and some pics as it happens.
And if you're still not sure about the G1, make sure you have a look at our hands-on video review.

The review in this month's mag sort of says it all. Its not even an iphone killer, nevermind a decent phone. ;)

I'm trying to look beyond it all and see what plans Google has for Android. Because I think the OS s great and will only get better. Looking forward to seeing what the entry level ones will look like at CES too.
