Carphone Warehouse offering cashback for old iPhones

15 Jun 2009

Good news everyone! Carphone Warehouse is set to offer some tasty trade-in deals for customers who want to upgrade to an iPhone 3G S.Since its launch last week, the iPhone 3G S has caused contoversy with its pricing plan, with O2 shackling users to a minimum 18-month contract and having to pay up to £275 for a handset. What's more, many existing O2 customers were disappointed that no weasy-upgrade offer would be made, similar to the transition from iPhone to iPhone 3G.But obviously the bods at Carphone Warehouse had their ears open and are offering a series of incentives to upgrade. If you have an old 1st gen iPhone – of any size – then you can claim back £100. An 8GB 3G will get you £170, while you'll get a tenner more (£180) for a 16GB 3G.If you're on a 3G contract, you'll still have to buy your way out of it, but getting up to 180 quid in your pocket should help to soften the blow somewhat.Read our first impressions of the iPhone 3G S here.

Do you think they'll sell them in the end?

Can you trade-in both a 2G and a 3G iPhone at the same time to get a total £270 off in one transaction?

Envirofone is offering £200.10 for a 16GB iPhone, http://www.envirofone.com/Apple/iPhone+3G+16GB/details.aspx Still not enough to convince me, i'll be paying over £300 for what? 4 or 5 extra features! I dont think so!
