Breaking news: Apple approves Spotify iPhone app
Apple has confirmed that Spotify's streaming music service app for the iPhone has been approved. The app is not available yet but Apple confirms that it will make its way to the iTunes App Store "very soon". The decision was confirmed by one of Apple's usually gnomic PR people at its US base in Cupertino. Many (including commentators on Stuff.tv) had predicted Apple would block Spotify's app for being too close to the iPhone's iPod functionality. However, it seems Apple and Spotify have been in contact throughout the app approval process. It may be that the two firms have struck a deal that will give Apple a greater share of Spotify's revenue for the app or some other form of compensation. The Spotify app will be free once it does hit the iTunes App Store. However, to use its streaming music on the go and exciting ability to buffer tunes when 3G or WiFi is not available, you'll need to be a Premium subscriber. That means stumping up £10 per month. Will you be willing to do that? See the Spotify app in action on the blogs now and let us know whether you'll be converted to Spotify's paid-for-streaming future. (via PaidContent)

Just wondering, with their announcements for Ipods and Itunes coming on 9th Sept, could this indicate the arrival of an Itunes subscription service?

£10 a month is still way to expensive considering most people will already have all of there music on their iphone.

£10 a month is steep, but its a great service. Not sure its necessary when I have my 'simply make-shift one' (How-to August stuff :D)
