BlackBerry App Store gets official
There's been rumblings around this for a while, but today BlackBerry officially announced that it would launch a competitor to Apple's App Store and Android Market.
Announced at the BlackBerry Developer Conference, the catchily named BlackBerry Application Storefront will be heading our way by March 2009 and will house the usual roll-call of third-party applications for your RIM device.
Just like App Atore and Android Market, developers will be able to set their own prices for their apps, and retain 80 per cent of the revenue, payable by punters securely through PayPal.
Great news for BlackBerry Storm owners, as touchscreen apps will be a go-go we're guessing. RIM has also said that it will continue with carrier-customised apps, allowing different carriers to offer a suite of apps from their own on-device storefront.
Looks as if all those City types could soon be playing Super Monkey Ball with the rest of us...
Between now and March, check out which touchscreen phone is right for you.
