Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 hitting UK in February
We knew that Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 was due to hit shelves in the first half of next year, but now a pre-registration page on the company's UK website has shed a bit more light as to when we can expect it.
Listed with an "expected launch" of February, the X10 will launch after the iPhone extends its reach to Vodafone in Janaury.
Specwise though, the X10 certainly gives Apple's handset a run for its money, with its 1GHz Snapdragon chipset, 8.1-megapixel camera, Wifi, 3G, GPS and its frankly massive 4-inch touchscreen.
Of course there's also the UI formerly known as Rachael, "UX", which has got us all aflutter in a couple of promo vids, and which we can't wait to get hands on with come the New Year.
The only downside to all this is that we know the X10 is set to launch packing Android 1.6, and not the latest 2.0 which will debut on the Motorola Droid (or the Milestone, depending on where you live).

I think altough it looks big, its the only phone ive seen that might drag me away from the iPhone. My batt needs charged twice a day and theres 2 big cracks on the case. I want a new phone but dont know wether to dump the iPhone and get something new or wait for the new iPhone likely to hit in june / july next year. O2 want £150 for me to upgrde to the new 3Gs which I will not be paying. Plus I dont want to be stuck in a 18 month contract for an iPhone that is barely different from the one ive been using for the past 18 months. I want something new and fresh!! And a phone that is up to the standards of where smart phones are (and should be) today. Once the X10 gets the much needed upgarde to android 2.0 then it will make this the only handset I would deem up to stealing me away from the iPhone. I would just miss all my apps ive bought so far.

I own a htc hero, the x10 does appeal as it has a larger screen, quicker processor and better camera than the hero but the hero's multi-touch, flash player and android 2.0 update coming keep it ahead for me.

why dont you get the palm pre? the one thing it does is one thing i wish all phones would do, just show you someone is calling if your watching a tv show or browsing facebook. there's nothing more annoying!!
