Nokia N900 shipping today
Nokia has announced that the first batch of its N900 handsets are being shipped out today, and Europe is one of the destinations on the mailing list.
The Maemo 5 device will apparently be hitting shelves at around 500 Euros SIM-free (around £450), although you’ll no doubt be able to pick it up on contract for nada.
Vice President of the N Series José-Luis Martinez describes the mobile phone as “taking its cues from the desktop computer”, with a big emphasis on browsing the internet using Mozilla’s mobile Firefox browser.
Specwise, the N900 packs a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a whopping 32GB of on board storage, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, A-GPS, Wifi and 3G.
It’ll be compatible with most networks at launch, although Nokia has admitted it won’t be initially compatible with new 3G SIM cards from 3, although a software update due before the end of the year will fix that.
We’ve already been hands on with the N900 and you can check out our first impressions and hands on snaps, and keep an eye out for a hands on video very soon.
