Nokia N8 flagship handset confirmed

Nokia N8

Not long after announcing a trio of social networking handsets a few weeks ago, Nokia has finally spilled the official deets on the previously-leaked N8 handset.

As the new flagship smartphone from the Finnish phone giant, the N8 packs some suitably high-end featues, including a 12-megapixel camera, 720p HD recording and the brand-spanking multitouch-capable Symbian 3 OS.

On-board you can expect 16GB of storage as standard, with a microSD card slot offering the chance to boost that up to 48GB.

Finishing touches appear in the form of an HDMI output for whacking your HD masterpieces onto your telly, Ovi Maps, a Web TV app and all the social networking integration we've come to expect from phones these days.

Thought to hit shelves in towards the end of this year, the price tag will read €370 before taxes.

We'll keep you updated with any details we get on the Nokia N8, but in the meantime be sure to check out what we thought to the Nokia X6 music phone in our hands on video.

does nobody else this nokias are crap !! they stil have the same dam theme on the phones. Graphics look lame, cant imagine the UI is much better and there so expensive. If i didnt have an iphone i would much rather have a sony erricson or a samsung which both have amazing cameras and arent laggy. Nokias are lame!

somebody has already had hold of a N8 and they slated it, yes it was prob a pre production model but it doesn't bode well, still lots of nok fans out there who will trade to one, nokia need to really pull there finger out an make a very good phone to take on the others.

12MP is good, but pixel sensor isn't everything. The Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash are what will make this phone one of the best camera phones on the market. http://is.gd/bJOjk

Not 100% sure why they insist on sticking with the symbian os.  Android would atleast open them upto a bit of creativity from developers, who cares about symbian nowadays?

Just sold my n900 as it was too clunky not a good user experience and most standard apps, ie phone and music (let alone no sat nav) had problems. I wouldn't buy an iPhone as even the multitasking isn't proper multitasking.  And I don't like Apples attitude to business or telling me how to use their phones  - ie locking them down so tightly. I have switched to my first HTC in the Desire and find it superb. Altho still not a fan of any touch screen device. I wish Nokia would get their act together however I bet they end up beta testing it on its customers like its last few phones.  Not a good PR move.
