iPhone 5 to get 4in screen and unibody redesign

10 Apr 2012

Hands up who was still hoping for the completely redesigned iPhone 5 when Tim Cook first stuck an image of the iPhone 4S on screen last year. In your defence, sometimes it's just more exciting when the outsides of gadgets change along with those hidden spec bumps.

According to Business Insider, Brian White – an analyst for Wall Street firm Topeka Capital Markets – has sent back some rather tasty iPhone 5 predictions from a tour of suppliers in China and Taiwan. White says the next iPhone will be the "most significant upgrade yet" with a 4in screen and a "new, sleek look" that involves a unibody case – so far no surprises.

White also mentions that the iPhone 5 should come with 4G (LTE) which is an almost dead cert now since the latest iPad came in 4G models. The analyst also pegs the launch date as around August or September 2012, with production of components beginning in June, to keep it more in line with last October's iPhone 4S launch. Can you wait that long for a new iPhone shape to worship?

But its no Samsung Galaxy S III is it. Why wait till september for a phone that is out of date compared to the galaxy.
    Apple who?

Just wondering how specs for two phones that have not yet been released can be compared and a conclusion that one of them is out of date is reached?

Screen size is disappointing. I thought 5 in is big enough to compete with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Note especially when it's coupled with retina display.

My defence??? I think if you look back on your so called reporting (which is normally just rehashing Engadget stories) of the iPhone at the time you claimed to have an inside source on the redesigned iPhone 5 and put up dodgy pics of a case to prove it. The only issue your readers need to defend (me included) is why we read your dubious iPhone gossip stories.

I'd stick to copying the other tech sites if I were you, at least they have genuine sources of information.

Maybe its the fact that the Galaxy II has better specs and the galaxy III will be better, so for Apple to be level with Samsung and Android it would need to be the iphone 7 or even 8. Just look at what the iphone 1 had and was missing, only to be included now, that was included in the Galaxy I 2 years ago. Thats how I can say out of date tech, but iSheep will still buy it and say its new.
