European Microsoft KIN axed

01 Jul 2010

We’ll admit, we weren’t ironing our tent in anticipation of camping out to buy a KIN, but it’s still sad to hear the news that Microsoft’s cuddliest bit of hardware won’t be coming to our shores.

The big M has decided “to focus exclusively on Windows Phone 7 and we will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned.

“Additionally we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases.”

Windows Phone 7 is something we’re excited about, so there’s our silver lining. Now, where’s that iron gone?

It died in the US because nobody wanted this overpriced underpowered garbage, and that's why its launch is stillborn in the rest of the world too.  What's the deal with all these pro-M$ biased articles, missing out the fundamentals of the story? Windows Phone 7 is just another "also ran", coming some 3 years late to the party.  Big deal.
