Affordable HTC Wildfire sets social networks alight
HTC’s position as number one iPhone rival has just received a boost in the budget department with the introduction of the Wildfire.
Aimed at cash-strapped Facebook fanatics and noodle-eating students, the Android-powered smartphone takes HTC’s socially minded Sense interface and clamps it to a less wallet-sapping handset. Funny, because last time we checked splashing out on expensive gadgets was exactly what a student loan was for.
With the holy trinity of smartphone features – 3G, Wi-Fi and GPS – it’s certainly no slouch in the specs department. And while the 3.2in screen is no bigger than an iPhone’s, the number of megapixels on its camera certainly is (there are 5, to save you counting).
The Wildfire also introduces a handy new app sharing feature. Particularly smitten with an Android app? You’ll be able to pimp it out to your friends via Twitter, text, email or your whole Friend Stream straight from the home page.
HTC can’t be more specific than ‘Q3’ when it comes to availability of the Wildfire but using our handy marketing speak translator we can tell you that means it’ll be available around July. As for price, expect it to come in somewhere around the £200 mark SIM-free.
